76 days post op and Australia pictures

Hello Bloggers,

I haven't posted on here in a while, been pretty busy with travels and haven't spent much time online.
Some of you are on my facebook so you'll see all the pictures I've uploaded, actually I got lasy and have a lot more to upload.

On a jaw surgery note I'll give you all a good update of my situation and add some photos.

The swelling has really gone down, I have to say that for the first time since surgery I think my face looks normal. I'm really happy with the surgery now and with the way I look. I'm chewing a lot better now, I'm still limited to what I can eat and most things have to be cut up into little pieces but it's a huge improvement. I can have things like veggie burgers but I have to cut the whole thing up to eat it, bun included.

I'm still having issues with my sinus, I wake up with a horrible taste in my mouth from my sinus draining. It's probably a little infected still. The swelling continues to go up and down on that side, some days worse than others. I've starting to put weight back on from the surgery. I found this pretty hard at first but I've just been enjoying a lot of food and now my clothes are fitting better.

I'll be in Australia until the 30th, and will then be heading back to Canada. I miss my little shih tzus a lot :(

Australia is beautiful though, we've been spending a lot of time at the local beach. I've gone swimming in the ocean a bit but I haven't really done anything exciting otherwise. My surgeon said to be careful and not to do anything where I might hit my face so surfing has been out of the question. I did get a spring suit though which I'll keep for next time.

We went to the Taronga zoo, manly beach, downtown sydney, wollongong, a wine tour in hunter valley, and some other places. It's been a really good trip so far, hopefully christmas will be a nice day and we can head down to the beach.

  1. Hi, my name is August and I'm 19. I have been struggling with horrible jaw, teeth, face, neck, and upper back pain for a year now. I have a gap in between my teeth in the front and only bite down on my very last back 4 teeth. It's so bad an painfull, I have cracked one from the over use and had to get a root canal, they rest don't feel far off from that either. After a year of tons of different doctors and types of doctors, family thinking Ive gone literally insane and wasting so much money I have found out that this is my problem. I have a doctor who told me I will need surgery but MUST be done growing, do around 21 years old:( I have another doctor who says we can put in braces and bands and see where that takes us in the mean time. It means so much that I found this website! I have been so upset and alone, life really has been in black and white for a year and I can't do it anymore. I'm tired of the pain pills everyday.

    1. sounds like you have a serious case of some TMJ. Did you get your wisdom teeth removed? and do you have an over-bite or under-bite?

    2. I have have tmj issues I have been told. They said my disks were slightly pushed out of position. The pain comes and goes. I was recomender a splint and have an appointment in a week but am worried about wasting the money (1400) and then being told that it won't get any better until I get my jaw fixed, it feels like it couldn't get better in the way my teeth come together now. I don't have an underbite nor an overbite. But yes the pain is isolated to my jaw hinges below my ears and can get horrible. It really comes and goes

    3. Oh and yeah I got them all pulled last summer thinking that might have been the issue.

  3. Hi. Just looking over your progress and you look great!! I am happy your surgery outcome is what you wanted. I have completed everything except wearing the retainers. Sill have forever to go, lol. I had a relapse on my left jaw and did not go back to correct it so I will always have some problems with that, however the worst is over. Like you, I like my results. I enjoyed your vacation pictures. I would love to go to Australia someday. Blessings to you.

  4. HEY! You look amazing Terra! The swelling looks like it's gone away. You no longer have a lisp. It's going to be really exciting when your braces come off. :D
